The Benefits of Online Schooling for Children

Online schooling is a concept generally known and has widely gained extra popularity, greatly fueled by the COVID-19 outbreak that forced a worldwide lockdown and as such forced a lot to happen online, including schooling. Online schooling also known as e-schooling or virtual schooling is an approach that uses digital technologies to deliver instructions to students remotely. Some of the features of online schooling include; virtual classrooms, flexibility, remote learning, curriculum variety, and much more. This article highlights the benefits of online schooling for children.

    1. Flexibility: Online learning allows for a flexible schedule for children. The flexibility allows children to come back to subjects they don’t understand as they can replay content. This flexible feature also helps children who have extracurricular activities or medical challenges that make school attendance difficult to catch up on learning at any time without pressure.
  • Personalized Learning: We already know that every child has his/her own learning pace and abilities. Online schooling allows children to learn at their own pace, unlike conventional school attendance where the teacher teaches every student at the same pace. The slow-paced child can take his/her time and always come back to a particular topic or section when needed, while the fast-paced child can skip what he/she already knows and move to learn something new. That way, every pace is catered for
  • Parental Inclusion: Online learning encourages parental involvement. It allows the parents to be involved, and monitor the progress and participation of their children. Parents can also ask questions about what the child learns after every learning time.
  • Computer Skills: Online schooling exposes children to numerous computer skills and enables them to become computer-literate and savvy. These skills are important as the world is highly technologically inclined.
  • Safety: Online schooling offers a safer, more controlled, and monitored environment for children. This is advantageous, especially to children who have health challenges or have faced bullying and other traumatic experiences. This gives them the opportunity to learn, space, and time needed for recovery.
  • Comfort: Traditional school attendance does not offer the comfort online schooling gives to children since they can learn from the comfort of their homes. A calm and comfortable environment offers a better learning and assimilation ability for children and this improves creativity.
  • Accessibility: Online school is advantageous to children in remote areas, or areas of unrest where safety is tampered with. Through this means, children no matter how far from civilization or who lack access to physical can still find resources that make school accessible to them.

In conclusion, online schooling offers so many benefits to children to help them explore and enrich their learning and creativity no matter what.
