Addressing Challenges and Overcoming Obstacles in Online Schooling
Online schooling comes with lots of challenges and obstacles. We will be addressing some of these challenges.
- Utilize Online Tools: Students can utilize software and tools to keep track and stay organized. Review and update organization. This can help give learners control over tasks because it also helps reduce distractions.
- Network Difficulties: One of the major needs of online schooling is strong and stable internet connections. Finding areas with strong internet connections can help.
- Adapt to new learning methods and familiarize yourself with online learning platforms and tools. Also, seek help from teachers if struggling with specific tools
- In cases of overwhelming workload, break tasks and assignments into smaller chunks and work in small steps. This way, it’s easier to manage. Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Remind yourself the reasons for starting. This often helps regain motivation. You had dreams of it and started. Remember those goals and dreams to boost your motivation
- Self-reward whenever you complete objectives to reinforce positivity. Oftentimes, setting a reward ahead of completing a task helps give the zeal required for concentration and completion because you look forward to earning the reward.
- Connect with educators. This can be informed by attending office hours and sending emails to ask for clarification of confusing things. Suppressing and harboring confusion discourages learners and this can reduce the zeal and motivation to want to continue. So ask your questions, connect, and build rapport with your teachers.
- Online schooling can be self-isolating. Build social interaction to get rid of the feeling of isolation. This can be in the form of joining study groups and forums. Discuss and interact with fellow learners to create communal feelings.
- Distraction is another challenge of online schooling. Being away from the traditional strict and rigid classroom setting can give freedom that allows distractions to set in. Creating a designated quiet and clutter-free space keeps distractions away. Set boundaries and rules with family members to reduce interruptions at the period of time you have chosen as study time. This also keeps distractions out.
- Add fun activities to the learning schedule. This can be in the form of educational games, puzzles, and brain teasers. This can help break the boredom caused by being alone in the learning space. Physical activities such as taking walks, exercises, and stretches also help the mind to refocus. It does not only improve mental health and academic performance, but it also improves the physical well-being and cognitive function of the learner.
